R G KAR MEDICAL COLLEGE:

There are now four scholarships in operation in this college and they are as follows:

Dr Samyajit Basu Memorial Scholarship
Dr A.K.Chatterjee Memorial Scholarship
Pramila Sidkar Memorial Scholarship
Sudharani and Sushomarni Memorial  Scholarship

By the end of next year ten medical students with poor financial backgrounds will be medical graduates with  the benefit of those scholarships and hope to serve the community of West Bengal.

Birendra Suhasini Memorial
This year the department of Surgery like previous years have organised the seminar and the competition of the presentation. First and second prizes are awarded to the successful candidates with certificates and medals. The candidate who got the highest mark in surgery was awarded scholarship. in spite of repeated persuasion, the department of surgery could not hold the seminar during March. As a result the prizes could not be awarded on the 5th of July on the College foundation day as wished.

Kamala Kaniilal and Satish Ch, Sett Memorial book fund.

A large amount of books and equipment for teaching were given to the department of nursing like previous years. Along with the college of Nursing and state nursing students are requesting LCD projectors which will cost one lac rupees each. In this financial year we were unable to make the capital investment. But the committee approved on principal for such help as and when our banking problem is resolved.

Health problems

The committee have approved five aqua guard machines for purified water supply to the nurses and also to prevent Hep AiHep E virus transmission. This year five machines will be implemented at hall of resistance under supervision of the college authority.

Hepatitis B immunisation.
One hundred Hep B vaccinations will be given to the nursing students full course to prevent the disease on a first come first serve basis. This is for the nursing and medical students who could not afford it otherwise.
